The focus of the workshops will be on working together to increase sales, and to develop networks in an informative and relaxed atmosphere.
Our workshop for the Hunter region was held at CBC Bed & Breakfast and cafe at Paterson on 9th June.
Attended by members and non-members of BBFNSW-ACT the day's program included a range of topics, mixed with opportunities to network with other local operators.
A highlight of the day was a guided tour of the historic property by Kevin Hawtin, who together with his partner Moira have been operating CBC Bed & Breakfast and cafe for the past 10 years.
Speakers included:
- Bill Mabey from Tourism NSW
- Jonathan Dowling from the Department of Energy and Climate Change
- Stewart Whyte, author, researcher, lecturer and all-round expert on running a Bed & Breakfast business

The headline in the local paper, The Express Advocate, on Friday 8th May, was "Wild Weekends," about noise from holiday lettings.
One resident in Copacabana is quoted as saying he had many sleepless nights because of a nearby holiday house "people sitting on the house's external deck until the small hours of the morning making huge amounts of noise".
The resident has asked council to put controls into its new local environment plan.
B&B, Homestays and holiday lettings are already covered by legislation for noise and parking.
The workshop will include a forum on this topical subject. It is hoped a representative from council will attend.
