Why stay at a B&B or Farmstay?
What do you think are the main reasons why people choose to stay at hosted accommodation places like bed and breakfasts or farmstays?
From my own experiences it is the level of service and general hospitality offered that is the key point. Many times when staying at hotels, serviced apartments or the type of holiday rental where you just pick up the key I have felt disappointed by the experience regardless of how many stars a place might have. The level of service offered in main stream accommodations seems to have dwindled so much over the years that you can almost feel like an "inconvenience" if you have the slighted need or problem.
Compared with the incredible friendliness and unexpected extras that have been quietly given by some of the b&bs where we have stayed it's chalk and cheese. Makes me want to try out more experiences on future holiday and business trips.

Unless business commitments require us to stay in a hotel, my wife and I always choose to book into a Bed & Breakfast or Farmstay. Operators have their ear to the ground and can tell you exactly what's going on locally - what to see and what to miss.
