AAA Tourism
AAA Tourism is the Australian national tourism arm of the state and territory based motoring organisations. AAA Tourism maintains the STARS Accommodation Classification Scheme, which rates accommodation facilities of all types within Australia. Green STAR Accreditation is also available as an additional endorsement, for operators with a current STAR Rating and is designed to promote your property as being "environmentally friendly".
Star ratings are re-accessed on a 12 - 18 month cycle by visitation of the AAA Tourism on-site Accommodation Accessors. Over 300 criteria are used to assess a property and determine a Star Rating of between one and five STARS.
AAA Tourism publishes several tourist guides including the printed Accommodation Guide distributed via the Auto Club outlets in each state and online website and Travel Planners. AAA Tourism members are invited to activate online booking facilities via Roamfree.com (AAA Tourism's booking agent and affilate provider to thousands of other online bookings distribution channels) and a discounted set up arrangement is in place.
(Note: BBFNSW-ACT Members can log in to this website to view reviews of the Roamfree system in the Directory Listing Reviews section of the Members Only area.)
An Access Information Program is now available and operators are invited to provide information on accessibility features of their properties via a Self Assessment Checklist with results being made available to the public via the state Auto Club website listings and indicated with an Access Information Program logo. Properties may also display this "Accessibility" Logo for display on their own websites.
More information about the Access Information Program, Star Rating and Green Star accreditation can be found on the AAA Tourism website.
