The Shared Economy - How it affects Airbnb and Windu Property listings

The growth of Bed and Breakfast as an accommodation alternative is a success story unparalleled throughout the Western World and, in particular, NSW and ACT.
To meet demand and substantiate Bed and Breakfast's place in the tourism industry there is now a growing need for increased knowledge and professionalism among Bed and Breakfast operators and to that end we have made available (on order) copies of both the titles - "Operating a Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay Business" and "A Feasibility Study for Aspiring B&B Operators"

2012 Budget effect on B&B/Farmstays

As usual, B&Bs and Farmstays can look forward at best to a mixed bag from the Federal Budget. There is growing anxiety in anticipation of the introduction of the carbon tax from the 1st July which will have an effect on the travel habits of people in the short term at least as will the uncertainties that have predicated higher levels of Consumer saving. Handouts to low and middle income families could ease these fears, but we will have to wait to see how this pans out.

Changes to Disability requirements

Yet another imposition by Government upon our Industry. I can't help but feel that the Government is enforcing the same policies on us as the large Hotel and Motel Accommodation sectors. When you consider that the size and returns for Hotels and Motels are proportionately much greater than B&Bs and Farmstays, it makes it a lot harder for us to amortise these costs over our income.
